 Summary:

The Pipeline Design Team Lead plays a pivotal role in supporting the Pipeline Design & Drafting Manager by overseeing day-to-day technical operations, leading project teams, and ensuring the successful execution of projects within the department. Their role is both technical and managerial, bridging the gap between the department's strategic objectives and the technical work performed by the designers. They are responsible for the coordination and delivery of all process, piping and mechanical deliverables, including BFDs, PFDs, MSDs, P&IDs, Plot Plans, General Arrangements, Equipment Layouts, Isometrics and associated 3D models.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of 3D models using CADWorx/Plant 3D software. 
  • Preparation of design drawings such MFD’s, PFD’s, P&ID’s, Plot Plans, Piping General Arrangements. Equipment Layouts and Isometrics. 
  • Bill of materials generation. 
  • Review of drawings and designs for accuracy, completeness, and consistency. 
  • Participate in internal and external 30/60/90 model reviews. 
  • Adherence to electronic filing system, folder structure and file management. 
  • Regular meetings with the Piping Design Led to ensure all project requirements are being met. 
  •  Effectively communicate the status of tasks, design changes and continuous improvement items to the rest of the design team. 
  • Maintain proficiency with the most up to date software. 
  •  Develop mutually beneficial relationships with team members and project personnel. 
  • Leadership, mentorship, and coordination of junior to intermediate design and drafting personnel
  • Overall coordination of a team of Piping Designers
  • Mentorship and training of junior 3D design drafting personnel
  • Project coordination for drafting and design including input on schedules, man hour estimates and scope of work documents.
  • Monitoring and review of P&ID’s, 3D Piping/Equipment/Structural and isometrics.

  •  Extensive knowledge of Plant 3D, specifically piping and equipment modules
  •  Proficient with AutoCAD 
  •  Minimum 10 years industry experience in piping design
  •  Knowledge of piping codes and standards like ASME, API etc.
  • Fundamental computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Solid understanding of the oil and gas industry with EPCM design experience
  • Highly motivated team player with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment.
      Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or ITI Draftsman 
  • 5+ years of experience preferably in EPCM / Oil & Gas / Petrochemical
